Privacy policy

What we collect

• Search text you type. We keep it to improve search and to see what jobs people want.
• A hashed version of your IP address and browser. We never store the raw IP address.
• Your email address if you set up a job alert, with the time and source of your consent.
• Your name, email, phone, resume, cover note and answers if you apply to a job through HelloJobs.
• Business contact details and verification evidence if you post jobs as an employer.
• Basic usage events (pages viewed, searches run) tied to a hashed session, not to your identity.

How we use it

• To show you jobs and send the alerts you asked for.
• To deliver your application to the employer you applied to, and only that employer.
• To detect fraud, spam and abuse.
• To understand which jobs people search for so we can ask employers to post them.
• We do not sell personal information. We do not train AI models on your private data, and we do not share your resume with anyone but the employer you applied to.

Applications and resumes

Resumes are stored privately and shared with the employer through time-limited signed links. Employers see only applications for their own jobs. Applications are deleted 12 months after you submit them.

Job alerts

Alerts start only after you confirm your email address. Every alert email has an unsubscribe link. We keep your alert until you unsubscribe, then we stop sending and remove it.

How long we keep things

• Applications: 12 months.
• Job alerts: until you unsubscribe.
• Search logs: 13 months, then deleted or fully aggregated.
• Employer accounts: while the account is open, and afterwards only for as long as the law requires.

Cookies

Searching and applying does not need an account or tracking cookies. Employers and admins who sign in get a session cookie so we know who they are. We do not use advertising cookies.

Your rights: access, correct, delete

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email privacy@hellojobs.ca from the address you used. We answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Who else handles the data

We use hosting, database and email providers to run the site. They process data on our instructions. Some of these providers may store or process data outside Canada; where they do, contracts require them to protect it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will say so on this page with a new date.
