We never charge candidates to apply

Searching and applying on HelloJobs.ca is free. No employer on HelloJobs may ask you to pay a fee, buy equipment or training, or share banking or identity documents to be considered for a job. If a posting asks for money or personal financial information, report it.

What we prohibit

• Jobs that do not exist, or that exist only to collect resumes or personal data
• Any request for payment, deposits, gift cards or crypto from a candidate
• Asking for banking details, SIN, passport or ID scans before a written offer
• Misrepresenting the employer, the pay, the location or the work
• Contact through unverifiable channels only (for example, chat apps with no company email)
• Multi-level marketing, pyramid or business-opportunity schemes presented as employment
• Discriminatory requirements prohibited by Canadian or provincial human rights law
• Reposting the same job under different names to look like more openings

How to report a job

Every job page has a Report this job button. Choose a reason (fake job, asks for money, suspicious contact, identity theft concern, misleading employer, expired, duplicate, discriminatory or other) and add any details. You do not need an account. You can also email trust@hellojobs.ca with the job link.

What happens after a report

• A report opens a moderation case the same day. Reports that mention money or identity documents go to the front of the queue.
• Jobs with serious reports are hidden from search while we review.
• We check the employer, the posting history and the contact details.
• If a posting breaks this policy we remove it, and we may suspend the employer and every job they posted.
• We keep a record of the decision. If you left an email, we let you know the outcome.
• Where the law requires it, we report fraud to the appropriate authorities.

How employer verification works

Employers can verify by proving control of a business email address or website domain, and in some cases by phone or documents. Jobs from verified employers show a Verified employer label. A missing label does not mean a job is fake, but it does mean we have not yet confirmed who is behind it. Verification is free and never affects where a job ranks in search.

Freshness and reconfirmation

Jobs expire on the date the employer sets, or after a fixed period without the employer confirming the role is still open. Expired jobs stop accepting applications and are removed from search and sitemaps.

Ontario and provincial requirements

This policy is published to meet platform obligations under Ontario's Working for Workers rules and similar provincial requirements. Employers using HelloJobs must follow the pay-transparency, AI-disclosure and vacancy rules that apply where the job is located.
